Psalter Calligraphy Scarf
The design on this elegant silk scarf reproduces the calligraphy of a sixteenth-century German psalter from our Museum Collections. The calligraphy was created in 1592 by Johannes Kirchring the Elder, one of the greatest calligraphers of the time. The German text is translation by Martin Luther. The featured quotations were drawn from multiple passages, including Romans 8:3-4, Acts 15:11, 17:27 and 4:11-12; Joel 2:32; Isaiah 33:22; Proverbs 18:10; and Psalm 40:4.
