Easter Morning and the Four Evangelists By Tiffany Jewelry Tray
Inspired by the Tiffany stained glass windows in the Museum Collections, this jewelry tray depicts Jesus, from the work titled “Easter Morning,” and the Gospel writers, from the work titled “The Four Evangelists.” Originally from the Church of the Epiphany in Orange, New Jersey, the windows were designed and created by the famous Tiffany Studios of New York City.
About Louis Comfort Tiffany
Louis Comfort Tiffany (ca. 1848-1933) was an artist and interior designer in New York City. He became fascinated with stained glass after a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, prompting him to found Tiffany Studios in 1902. He developed many innovative techniques in glass production that immortalized his name in the industry. The production of his stained-glass windows and lampshades became widely popular in the first decades of the 20th century. This popularity lasted until around 1930, when it was then considered old-fashioned and out of style. It would later see a resurgence in the late 1970s that continues today.
